Better than T.V.
It’s that time of day again. We load up the family and head down the road a piece for some afternoon entertainment. No, you won’t find it listed in any T.V. guide. It’s better than any show. Yep, it’s time to feed our – oops our neighbor’s calves. These little guys are a hoot to watch. They see us and the race is on. It’s range cube time! These little guys are crazy for them. Dusti has her favorite calf. It’s #8. I think the feeling is mutual. There’s something special between them. Feeding time ends and it’s time to go home. We bid them good by and good night. We hold the promise for tomorrow to be back here, same time, same place with NO COMMERCIALS and I promise you no RERUNS. Now if we can only teach these little guys to sit!

Dreaming of Summer’s Bounty
Well here I go talking about the weather again! It’s cold and rainy here – down right miserable! It’s also one of the busiest times of the year. Seeds are started in our cozy little greenhouse. Seeds of all kinds – tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, herbs & flowers. All with the anticipation of warmer weather in a few months! One of my favorite things to do each day is to go out to the greenhouse and see what may be popping. We have a variety of tomatoes up as well as statice, snapdragons, asters, basil, stocks, eggplants and a few peppers. I’m also seeding tropical papayas, kiwi & passion fruit. Potatoes will soon be one of the next chores here – cutting, curing & planting. We’ll be planting plenty of fingerlings as well as red potatoes. We’ll be staying busy!!!

Rainbow
The weather here has been absolutely beautiful. Warm days have allowed us to work out in the field. The chilly nights can find me cuddled up next to the fireplace with seed catalogs. We have baby tomato plants popping in the greenhouse – a sure sign Spring is not far off. While doing some weeding in the lettuce patch today the clouds grew dark. My weeding was cut short due to rumblings in the heavens. I can beat anyone to shelter when I hear thunder. A gentle shower fell. I love watching the rain as it falls. As the clouds pass the sunshine came back out. A beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky. What a wonderful reminder of the natural beauty this world has to offer.
